Craig joined MF Global in April 2010, prior to which he spent 13 years covering the insurance industry in the UK, continental Europe and China and has previously worked for Credit Suisse and Exane/BNP Paribas. Craig has developed a reputation for non-consensus research with a deep knowledge of industry secular trends to guide investment strategy. Craig’s experience has been drawn both within the UK insurance industry and in advising UK government policy. He started his career as a European management consultant at Mercer and Tillinghast/TPFC.
Stewart joined MF Global in 2004, prior to which he spent six years at Citigroup as the European quantitative equity strategist and a member of the number 2 Reuters and Extel-rated pan-European quant team. In this role, he provided quant support for equity sales desks and analysts as well as a tailored data service for clients. Stewart has previously worked in the number 1-ranked U.K. strategy team at HSBC and at Natwest Investment Management.
John joined MF Global in 2007, prior to which he spent 10 years covering car-makers, truck-makers and auto-parts suppliers at Daiwa SMBC Securities. He has three years’ industry experience, as an engineering/building services consultant for Applied Energy, and in over 20 years in London has previously worked at HSBC as a member of the highly rated autos and capital goods team at Williams de Broe and Buckmaster & Moore/Credit Suisse AM. John has a mechanical engineering degree and an MBA from University of Bradford Management Centre.
Tom joined MF Global in August 2009, having previously worked at the specialist financials broker Keefe, Bruyette Wood (KBW) for five years. At KBW, Tom covered several small-cap companies and assisted with the coverage of the non-life/reinsurance sector. In 2002, Tom graduated from Southampton University, where he studied economics and French.
Jeremy joined MF Global in December 2009, prior to which he spent two years at Oliver Wyman (financial services) as a strategy consultant and four years at F&C as an analyst/fund manager, focusing on the construction, mining, and support services sectors. Jeremy graduated from Oxford University with a master’s degree in chemistry, has passed all levels of the CFA examination, and speaks Spanish as well as English.
Noel joined MF Global as a junior telecoms analyst in Sept 2008 directly from RBS, where he worked as a telecoms, media, and technology banker focusing on the pan-European and Middle Eastern regions. Noel graduated with a first in business and legal studies from University College Dublin and has an MSc finance from UCD business school.
Mike joined MF Global in May 2009, prior to which he was head of pan-European consumer research at Piper Jaffrey. He previously held similar positions at Credit Agricole Cheuvreux and SG and has spent over 15 years researching the sector. He also spent four years with the highly rated Natwest Securities consumer team. Mike has a combined honours degree in economic history and geography from the University of Exeter.
Charlie joined MF Global in 2007, prior to which he spent over 12 years as an analyst covering the capital goods sector and as a salesperson specializing in Nordic equities. Charlie is a chartered accountant and joined MF Global from an independent research house, having previously worked at Nordea Securities, Commerzbank, and Lehman Brothers.
Andrew joined MF Global in 2005 and spent over four years working within the European mining and construction team in London. He is now based in Sydney, focusing on Australian resource companies whilst taking a leading role in coordinating research within the wider Asian region. He has also worked at Andersen. He is CFA-qualified and graduated with a first in economics from King’s College London.
David joined MF Global in 2006 in a hybrid specialist sales/analyst role within the telecoms team. He has 11 years of experience of the sector, having previously worked in both specialist sales and analyst roles at Bear Stearns, Commerzbank, and Dresdner Kleinwort, the latter two with John Karidis. David graduated with a degree in business and finance in 1998.
Claire joined MF Global as a junior banks analyst in January 2009, having previously worked in the financial services audit group at Deloitte. Claire graduated with a first in BSc mathematics and Spanish from the University of Manchester. She is a chartered accountant and is currently studying for the CFA.
John joined MF Global in 2005 and has spent nearly 20 years analysing the pan-European telecoms sector. He has been regularly highly ranked in both the Extel and II surveys. Prior to working at MF Global, John worked at Commerzbank Securities, where for five years he covered the European mobile network operators. He has also worked in the telecoms teams at Dresdner Kleinwort and ABN. John graduated in engineering from King’s College, London, and holds an MBA from Imperial College, London. He speaks Greek as well as English.
Simon joined MF Global in 2007 and has over 15 years’ experience as a top-rated banks analyst with a reputation for independent and non-consensus thinking.
Previously Simon has led the top 5 Extel-ranked European banks team at Dresdner Kleinwort and was number 2 on the European banks team at Goldman Sachs. During the ’90s, Simon led top-5-ranked research teams in Hong Kong and Malaysia and was regularly ranked among top 5 analysts for both country- and sector-specific research. Prior to joining MF Global, he was a consultant analyst to Blue Oak Capital Limited. Simon graduated in PPE from Oxford University.
Neill joined MF Global in 2005, prior to which he spent seven years as a senior analyst on the pan-European oil team at Dresdner Kleinwort. He has also worked at James Capel (now HSBC) and NatWest (now Deutsche Bank), where he gained experience in the European chemical sector. Neill has a PhD in chemistry from the University of London and started his career as a research scientist with BASF in Germany and British Telecom in the U.K.
Olivia joined MF Global in 2007 as a junior analyst who will principally focus on French and Spanish construction and concessions companies. Olivia graduated from Bristol University and then obtained the CPE and LPC, where she specialized in corporate law. She is currently studying for a CFA.
Shailesh joined MF Global in October 2009 from Noble Asset Management (Hedge Fund) where he was a research analyst for 18 months, specialising in the coverage of the financial sector. Prior to joining Noble, he spent three years covering the banking sector at NCB Stockbrokers and Religare Hichens Harrison. He has over 10 years’ experience, having previously worked for Credit Suisse and Thames River Capital. Shailesh has an MSc in finance (with distinction) from ICMA Centre, having previously graduated from Nottingham University. He is also an associate of the CFA society of the U.K.
Philippe joined MF Global in January 2010 with over seven years of experience covering the leisure sector, having previously worked at Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers. He started his career at Morgan Stanley in London after obtaining a master’s degree in finance from European business school ESCP Europe and having previously graduated from Paris-Dauphine University. He speaks French and Spanish as well as English.
Justin joined MF Global in 2007, prior to which he spent 18 months as a European healthcare specialist salesperson at Deutsche Bank. He previously worked as a pharma/medtech analyst at JPMorgan and Citigroup for eight years. Justin started his career in corporate finance at Merrill Lynch in 1997 after graduating in natural sciences from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University.
Tobias joined MF Global in 2004, prior to which he spent seven years at Schroder Salomon Smith Barney as a director focusing on a pan-European building stock coverage. During this period, the team was top-rated for three consecutive years by II, Extel, and Greenwich in the U.K., Europe, Latin America, and the U.S. Whilst at MF Global, Tobias has already been voted as a top-5 building analyst. Tobias graduated from the University of Kent, has an MBA from WBS, and speaks German, French, Greek, and English.
